Abu Shaybah Fm LITHOLOGY= USGS chart places this formation at the base of the Keuper stage in the late Triassic. Previously named "Bu Sceba." Comprised of variegated fine to coarse-grained sandstone with a few dolomitic horizons toward the top. Deposited in increasing lagoonal/marine environment.
